Speech Pathology Australia defines four fundamental values that apply to Speech Pathologists as they interact with clients, colleagues, other professionals and the community. At Sydney SLP, these values are reflected daily in the following ways:

Integrity: We are honest.

We conduct appropriate assessments that will identify if your child has a problem.

We report frankly and honestly on that assessment.

We recommend therapy only if there is a need.

We consult with other colleagues and professionals when appropriate to best meet the needs of your child (confidentially of course!).

Professionalism: We are proud of our profession, and happy to share our knowledge.

We give you professional advice not our opinion.

We are professionals in communication. We are happy to answer your questions or concerns without the “hard sell”.

Respect and Care: We respect and care about you.

We are qualified in assessing and treating speech, language and literacy challenges. You are the expert in your child (among many other things) and we respect that. We work with you for the benefit of your child.

If we are not the best team to help your child reach their potential, we will let you know. We will do our best to refer you to other professionals that may better suit your child’s needs at that time.

We self-evaluate and reflect on our therapy services to ensure you always get the best possible care.

Quality Standards and Continuing Competence: There is always something for us to learn!

We use evidence-based assessments and therapies, clinical knowledge and your goals to write motivating and effective management plans.

We read and apply the research.

We participate in on-going learning by completing additional qualifications and undertaking professional self-regulation.
